The following companies had unusual price changes in Mexico trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of 4 p.m. New York time.
The IPC index declined from a record, dropping 0.2 percent to 38,542.16.
Alfa SAB (ALFAA MM), the world’s largest producer of aluminum engine heads, climbed the most since October, gaining 3.6 percent to a record 130.32 pesos. General Motors Co., Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler Group LLC reported U.S. sales gains in December as demand for the automakers’ new models increased.
Cemex SAB (CEMEXCPO MM), the largest cement maker in the Americas, fell 0.4 percent to 13.37 pesos. Cemex received a formal complaint from Spanish antitrust authorities alleging price fixing in the ready-mix cement industry. The Spanish antitrust agency also indicated that Cemex violated competition rules, Cemex said in a U.S. regulatory filing today. The company’s Spanish unit denied any wrongdoing.
Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste SAB (ASURB MM), the operator of airports in southern Mexico, rose 1.5 percent to 71.02 pesos. Crude oil declined from near a 27-month high, signaling lower fuel costs that may spur air travel.
OHL Mexico SAB (OHLMEX* MM), the local unit of Spanish construction company Obrascon Huarte Lain SA, climbed 1.7 percent to 24.66 pesos. The company was rated “buy” in new coverage at UBS AG on its “high-quality concessions with predictable profitability.”
