Logan Aluminum in Russellville has agreed to pay a $285,000 fine and install pollution control equipment on one of its furnaces, the U.S. Justice Department announced Wednesday.

The federal Environmental Protection Agency and the state had charged that the company was violating the Clean Air Act by releasing pollutants such as dioxins, furans, hydrogen chloride and particulate matter. The company makes aluminum coils that are used in the beverage industry.
