Sri Lanka Hayleys cuts stake in aluminium firm

Sri Lanka's Hayleys group said it had cut its holdings in a newly acquired alumimium extrusion firm by 35 percent by selling 700,000 shares to a consortium of investors.


The firm said a 35 percent stake in Alumex, had been sold to Sri Lanka's Hirdramani group and Akbar Brothers and it now held 60 percent of the firm.


The sale had netted 900 million rupees.


Hayleys bought Alumex for 2.2 billion rupees funding the purchase with 2.0 billion rupees in debt, according to Fitch Ratings, which placed the holding company on a negative rating watch.
