Pierce County law enforcement officials and the Bonneville Power Administration are investigating the recent theft of 30 to 60 pounds of aluminum scrap metal from a substation in East Pierce County.
The thieves broke into the BPA substation at 4350 180th St. E. between Sept. 23 and Sept. 27, the utility reported Tuesday. They cut several locks to get into a gated parking area and took the metal stored there.
The BPA is offering up to $25,000 through its Crime Witness Program for information leading to arrests and convictions in the theft. Anyone with information is asked to call BPA’s Crime Witness Hotline at 800-437-2744 or local law enforcement.
