Iran aluminium output went up by 6% in first 5 months of Iranian year starting from March 20th 2010. The output 127683 tonnes of aluminum have been produced in the first 5 months of Iranian year. The largest and the most advanced aluminum plant of Iran, Hormozal was inaugurated on January 9 in the southern city of Bandar Abbas.
Hormozal aluminum plant with the annual production capacity of 147,000 tonnes came on stream at the cost of EUR 400 million in imports of services and parts and about IRR 2 trillion in domestic cost. The 230 KA technologies have been applied in the project.
Hormozal would add some 47% to the country's annual production capacity boosting it to 457,000 tonnes from the previous figure of 310,000. The plant is JV between Iran and Italy. The giant project would create 7,700 direct and indirect jobs.
