Keeping businesses in the area is something Congressman Tim Ryan says is one of his top priorities, and to prove that point, he made a stop at a Warren facility Tuesday to make sure it's getting the help it needs.
Ryan took a tour of Novelis Warren plant. The plant is a leading manufacturer of aluminum rolled products and aluminum can recycling.
It has 12,500 employees worldwide. About 100 people work at the Warren facility, which operates equipment that applies coating to rolled aluminum sheet.
"They have some issues with transferring some of their current processes for environmental reasons, and we just want to make sure it doesn't affect current growth," said Ryan, D-Niles. "I think they are working on strategies, and we want to make sure they are not over-regulated."
"We want to make sure they have a growth strategy, and I want to be helpful to them as well. There are 100 employees here making good money, good wages, good contracts with health care benefits, and we want to keep it that way."
Union and company officials said they are thankful the congressman came out and spent time with them to learn about the facility and their needs.
