Iran’s aluminum output in the eleven-month period ended February 19, hit 258,275 tons, up 15 percent compared to the corresponding period last year.
According to Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization, some 131,728 tons of aluminum worth 233,729,000 dollars have also been exported during the mentioned period, the Mehr News Agency reported.
The largest and the most advanced aluminum plant of Iran,Hormozal, was inaugurated on January 9 in the southern city of Bandar Abbas. The plant has produced 2,542 tons of aluminum so far.
Hormozal aluminum plant with the annual production capacity of 147,000 tons came on stream at the cost of 400 million euros and 2 trillion rials (about $200 million).
The 230 KA technology has been applied in the project,IMIDRO said in a statement.
Hormozal would add some 47 percent to the country’s annual production capacity, boosting it to 457,000 tons from the previous figure of 310,000.
The plant is a joint venture between Iran and Italy. The giant project would create 7,700 direct and indirect jobs.
