Norilsk Nickel production of saleable Nickel declined in the year 2009. In its quarterly and full year results reported the company said that overall saleable Nickel production for 12 months ended 2009 was 282900 tonnes as compared to 300600 tonnes during the corresponding period previous year. Refining capacity underutilization in the Harjavalta plant due to disruptions in delivery of raw materials was a result of the fall in the production.

Norilsk is the world's largest nickel and palladium producer. Copper production for 12 months ended 2009 registered a fall to 402000 tonnes as compared to 419000 tonnes in the year 2008. The decline was a result of fall in production of Polar division and Kola MMC.
