BANDAR ABBAS, Oct. 3 (MNA) – The 147,000-ton Hormozal Aluminum Complex in Khalij-e Fars Special Mining and Metal Industries zone will boost the country’s annual aluminum production capacity by 67 percent, the managing director of the zone announced here on Friday. Bahman Ayyar Rezai told the Mehr News Agency that the Hormozal Complex, is the biggest aluminum plant in the country, and will be built utilizing the world’s advanced technology. He said that the plant is 80 percent complete in the first phase and anticipated that the complex would come on stream by October 2010. “Some 800 million dollars will be invested in the project,” IRNA had quoted the Industries and Mines Minister Ali Akbar Mehrabian as saying on August 18. Arguing that the implementation pace of Hormozal Complex is satisfactory, Mehrabian expressed hope that some 114 tanks of the project would be put into operation by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2009).
