Venezuelan alumina refinery returns to normal production

The 2-million tpy Puerto Ordaz alumina refinery operated by Venezuela’s Bauxilum is now running at normal capacity with all four calcinators on line, according to local media reports. Scheduled maintenance on one calcinator coincided with technical problems on another, meaning the plant has been operating at below capacity for around two months. The production target for this year stands at 1.85 million tonnes, compared with production of over 1.9 million tonnes last year.
