MOSCOW --The Tajikistan Aluminum Smelter, the only aluminium plant in Central Asia, plans to increase its primary aluminum output in 2007 by 10%-15% compared with 2006, the company said Wednesday.
Output last year totaled 414,000 metric tons.
The smelter is modernizing production and upgrading equipment, which enabled it to increase output in 2006 by 9% from 379,630 tons produced in 2005.
The smelter exports all the aluminum it produces, accounting for over 75% of the country's hard currency revenues.
