According to Rio Tinto’s second-quarter report, the firm’s bauxite output dropped by 6% year on year to 13.7 million tons in the second quarter due to the continued system instability caused by severe wet weather in Eastern Australia in the first quarter.
In the first half of 2021, Rio Tinto's bauxite output reached 27.26 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 4%.
Besides, Rio Tinto's primary aluminum output totaled 800,000 tons in the second quarter of this year, rising by 4% year on year. The increase was due to full capacity at the ISAL smelter in Iceland and the Becancour smelter in Quebec.
