According to statistics released by Japan Aluminium Association (JAA), Japan’s aluminum imports, including unwrought and wrought aluminum and aluminum waste and scrap, amounted to around 201,000 tons in July this year, dropping by 25.5% compared to the previous month while rising by nearly 34% from the same month a year earlier.
During the reporting period, the imports of unwrought aluminum, which usually account for the majority of Japan’s aluminum imports, including alloy and non-alloy aluminum, totaled around 174,000 tons, occupying a proportion of 86.7% of the total import volume.
