Kobe Steel has plans to increase its aluminum plate production due to strong demand for liquid crystal manufacturing facilities. The company is currently producing about 2,600 tons of product. Kobe will introduce two large-scale gate-shaped machining centers in the Daian Plant, Inabe-Gun, Mie Prefecture, where aluminum alloy and magnesium alloy forgings are produced, by the end of the year.
They hope to increase machining capacity of the aluminum vacuum furnace chamber responding to the eighth-generation liquid crystal manufacturing equipment on which capital spending has been intensified. The company now holds more than 80% of the large vacuum furnace chambers for the top two liquid crystal manufacturing equipment manufacturers in Japan.
