According to Vedanta Limited, a mining company headquartered in India, the firm planned to raise the production at its Lanjigarh alumina refinery from the current 1.5 million tons/year to 1.8 million tons/year in the fiscal year 2020 due to the significant improvement in operating efficiency.
The firm said that the improvement in operating efficiency was mainly due to a decrease of 26% in caustic soda consumption, a reduction of 19% in conversion cost, and a fall of 9% in bauxite costs.
Now Vedanta’s Lanjigarh alumina refinery ranked in the top five alumina refineries in the world in terms of energy consumption.
