The plants in question, according to the newspaper, came with Falconbridge, which Xstrata acquired last year.
Evans said the price would be decisive, noting Falconbridge's foundries have operating costs that are less competitive than Alcan's
Addressing Airbus' "Power8" revamp plan, Evans said Alcan, as a major supplier to Airbus, could federate with the jetmaker's suppliers or even acquire some of them.
Evans declined to comment on rumors that Alcan itself might be the target of an acquirer, the newspaper said.
