Supply side woes add momentum to LME nickel with prices seen holding at close to record highs and the upside "limitless," a broker says. "A strike mandate by unions at Xstrata's Sudbury sparked the upside move Wednesday, and this is being built on in trade today," he notes. Extremely tight market conditions and a lack of new metal due on stream in '07 will underpin prices going forward, he adds. LME nickel trades last at $35,800/ton, just down from $35,975/ton overnight but up 6% from Wednesday's low.
