It is planning to build a smelter with a capacity of 500,000 tons per year, says Ansari Bukhari, Director General of the Indonesian Industry Ministry
National Aluminium Co. Ltd (NALCO) is reportedly toying with the idea of setting up a smelter in Indonesia, Ansari Bukhari, Director General of the Indonesian Industry Ministry said on Friday.
"They are planning to build a smelter with a capacity of 500,000 tons per year," Bukhari told reporters.
With that capacity NALCO would need a power plant that can generate 1,250 MW, Bukhari said, adding that to build the smelter and the power plant, NALCO would need a total investment of US$3bn.
"They wanted us to provide 1,500 hectares of land, including facilities like railways, clean waters, access to port and secure coal supplies of 8mn tons per year," he added.
