Recently, a document among members of the European Aluminium industry group indicated the group is discussing imposing sanctions on Russian Aluminum.
However, the internal memo stipulated that it would oppose specifically targeting the country's largest producer Rusal. The company supplied about 6% of the global aluminum last year, producing 4 million metric tons of primary aluminum. Currently, EU sanctions on Russian Aluminum imports are limited, restricting only certain products over 0.2mm thick.
European Aluminum industry group said they had no information about imminent EU sanctions. The European Commission declined to comment.
