On 22nd September this year Sapa entered into an agreement to purchase an extrusion plant 150 km North West of Shanghai. This deal was closed yesterday, December 7th, 2011. The plant is now operated under Sapa’s management and is doing business under the name Sapa Profiles Jiangyin Co. Ltd. The plant has 15 presses with the total production capacity of 60,000 tones and has nearly 300 employees. It is one of the larger extrusion operations in the Yangtze River Delta region. The facility is also equipped with casting –, anodizing -, horizontal powder coating -, thermal break -, and fabrication capabilities.
“Sapa has now successfully established a significant footprint in Asia and with this acquisition in China we are reinforcing our ability to serve customers in the region. By utilizing the process improvement skills and technical capabilities in the Sapa system, we will be able to develop this plant further and bring new solutions to the local customers”, says Svein Tore Holsether, President and CEO of Sapa.
“We are now focusing on implementing a broad range of improvements in the plant to increase sales, efficiency and quality, and are building a local organization which can meet the requirements of our customers”, says Jarle Dragvik, Managing Director of Sapa Profiles China, who has been appointed MD of the Jiangyin plant.
