* Stronger demand for copper rod/shapes
* Demand for Japan reconstruction possible in 2H 2011
* Copper concentrate TC/RCs rising
Strong demand is being experienced for copper products but surging copper prices are starting to impact on sales, Aurubis (NAFG.DE: Quote), Europe's biggest copper producer, said on Thursday.
"Sales of copper wire rod remain at a high level, the cable and wire industry is still ordering large quantities and the trend is rising," Aurubis said in a report.
"Copper shapes are also very much in demand, whereby the continuing high copper prices are slightly reducing the momentum in some market segments."
Three-month copper CMCU3 on the London Metal Exchange was at $9,420 a tonne at 1232 GMT on Thursday after hitting a five-week-high of $9,944.75 a tonne on Monday.
The overall demand in the copper market is positive although the impact of the Japan crisis is unclear, it said.
