BRUSSELS, Nov 25 (Reuters) - EU competition regulators extended on Wednesday their review of Australian packaging group Amcor's (AMC.AX) takeover of Alcan, a unit of mining firm Rio Tinto (RIO.AX), after the companies offered concessions. The European Commission set a Dec. 14 deadline for its decision from Nov. 30 previously, according to its list of mergers under review. The deal is Amcor's first big buy under Chief Executive Ken MacKenzie after four years of fixing, closing and selling businesses. Rio is selling assets to pay down debt acquired after buying the Alcan aluminium business.
