Qatar Start the First Aluminum Plant in its Joint Venture Project with Norway

Latest news said that Qatar start its first aluminum plant in joint venture project with Norway, this project was invested about 6.5 billion dollars. Report from AFP said that Qatar Crown Prince Sheikh Tamim Bin Khalifa Bin Hamad Al-Thani set up the cornerstone in the opening ceremony of this project. This aluminum factory is located in South of Doha, in an industry garden 40 kilometer away, first output is expected 585,000 metric ton each year. CEO of this project said in the opening ceremony this aluminum factory will be put into production in the forth quarter 2009. he also suggested that the yield will increase to 2,100,000 ton each year. Qatar Petroleum has signed a contract with Norway aluminum and oil magnate StatoilHydro ASA on construct this aluminum factory in December 2004, each own 50% of its shares.
