PARIS, France, January 17 -- Christel Bories, Senior Vice President, Alcan Inc. and President andChief Executive Officer of Alcan's Engineered Products Group has been electedChairman of the European Aluminium Association's (EAA) Executive Committee.Based in Brussels, Belgium, the EAA represents the aluminium industry inEurope. Ms. Bories' new mandate lasts for two years and began on January 1,2007.
"On behalf of Alcan, it is my honour to accept this newassignment. I look forward to working with my fellow board members inidentifying and managing the challenges and opportunities in order to promotethe long-term sustainability of Europe's aluminium industry," said Ms.Bories.
Ms. Bories assumed her current position at Alcan on December1, 2006 succeeding Michel Jacques who has taken over responsibility forAlcan's primary metal business, based in Montreal, Canada. She was previouslyin charge of the Company's packaging group. As head of the EngineeredProducts Group, Ms. Bories oversees 120 facilities and 15,000 employees in 32countries and regions. Headquartered in Paris, France, the business, recordedapproximately US$6 billion in 2005 revenues.
Alcan Engineered Products consists of world-leading fabricatedand semi-fabricated aluminium and composites businesses providing innovativematerials, technologies and customized solutions to industries such asaerospace, mass transportation, automotive and marine, architecture anddisplay, electricity transmission, wind-power generation, industrial andelectromechanical applications, and leisure.
