Ukraine's exports of alumina increased 5.4% year-on-year to 1.271 million mt in the January-November period, up from 1.205 million mt exported in the same period one year ago, the State Statistics Committee reported Thursday.
In November alone Ukraine exported 99,350 mt of the commodity, down from 127,380 mt exported in October and down from 112,420 mt exported in November 2005, according to figures released by the committee.
Russia is the largest market for Ukrainian alumina. Ukraine exported 98,520 mt of alumina to Russia in November, compared with 127,050 mt exported in October.
Ukraine exported a total of 1.33 million mt of alumina in 2005, up from 1.29 million mt exported in 2004.
Ukraine's major exporter of the commodity, Mykolayiv Alumina Plant (MAP), produced 1.29 million mt of alumina in January-November, up 3.8% year-on-year. MAP, the largest producer of alumina in Europe, is owned by Russian aluminium group Rusal.
