According to statistics released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) of China, China’s primary aluminum production amounted to 3.6 million tons in August, rising by 3.4% compared to the previous month and by 3.1% from the same period a year ago. The increase in output was mainly due to higher production following the resumption of hydropower generation in Yunnan.
In August, the annual production capacity of 390,000 tons was resumed and the monthly production capacity of 32,500 tons was restored, most of which were in Yunnan.
In the first eight months of this year, China’s aluminum production amounted to 27.23 million tons, a year-on-year hike of nearly 3%.
Aluminum production in September was widely expected to be at the same level as in August as much of Yunnan's production capacity has been restored.
