It was reported that China’s Shandong Nanshan has an expansion plan at its new alumina plant in Indonesia. The plant will be expanded to a US$6 billion aluminum smelting complex by 2028.
This alumina plant, located at the special economic zone (SEZ) in Galang Batang with an annual capacity of 2 million tons, was launched in November last year.
A source from Shandong Nanshan said the company planned construction of a 250,000 tons per year (tpy) aluminum smelting unit later this year, part of a plan to build up a 1 million-tpy aluminum plant by 2028.
