It was reported that China planned to release 800,000 to 900,000 tons of primary aluminum from the national reserves in early July in order to ease the current continuously hiking aluminum prices.
China, the largest producer and consumer of primary aluminum in the world, had an annual consumption accounting for around 56% of the world's total aluminum consumption each year.
It was understood that the recent increase in aluminum prices was due to the production reduction at smelters in Yunnan and Inner Mongolia.
