China’s new secondary aluminum production capacity will reach 1.184 million tons this year. However, there will be a reduction of 300,000 to 500,000 tons in production due to the insufficient supply of raw materials and the impact from aluminum alloy ingots, and part of the reduced production capacity will be transferred to Southeast Asia.
Therefore, China’s new production capacity of secondary aluminum will increase to 10.79 million tons in 2020, while the operating rate has slid to 46.3% due to the COVID-19 epidemic and the lack of raw materials.
