In August, China's primary aluminum output rose by 1.3% MOM, by 5.24% YOY, to a record of 1.863 million tons.
Analysts said, the new capacity of Northwest Territories (for example, Xinjiang) has helped boost aluminum production. Meanwhile, most of the existing capacity is still running.
So far this year, the domestic spot price of aluminum has dropped nearly 5%, due to oversupply problem in the industry.
Data shows that, for the first eight months of this year, China's primary aluminum production was 14.349 million tons, increasing 8.2% over the same period in 2012.
China's largest aluminum production province - Henan's primary aluminum production in August was 274,140 tons, and that of Xinjiang was 218,261 tons.
