China exported 280,000 mt of aluminum semis during July, an increase of 21.74% from the same period last year. YTD exports through July totaled 1.76 million mt, also up 6.67% from a year earlier. Aluminum extrusion exports in July, however, fell 25.2% YoY to 54,000 mt, dragged down by weak overseas demand for construction aluminum extrusion.
Aluminum plate/sheet and strip exports, in contrast, jumped 55.17% YoY to 143,000 mt. Aluminum foil exports also rose by 19.87% YoY to 68,000 mt. Plate/sheet, strip and foil exports in July held largely flat with June levels since demand had remained relatively stable throughout 2Q.
