China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the standard of aluminum industry

Recently, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the standard of the aluminum industry to strengthen the administration of aluminum industry, suppress the repeated construction, and mitigate the overcapacity of electrolytic aluminum. The standard stipulates that alumina project construction should be above 800,000 tons per year, and for the alumina project which use the domestic bauxite, the matched bauxite mine percentage should reach 85% or above, and the resource should be secured more than 30 years.

The standard stipulated that the new alumina project which makes use of the imported bauxite should have the long-term secured overseas bauxite resource as the material guarantee, and the material gained from the above 5 years' contract which is set through joint venture must reach the 60 percent of the total demand. The alumina project which takes advantage of high-alumina fly ash must be close to the origin of the high-alumina fly ash, and the annual output should be above 500,000 tons, and the resource should be secured more than 30 years.

New electrolytic aluminum project must have the material supply guarantee, and make sure that the power supply , and transportation is available. The standard encourages the enterprises of electrolytic to regroup to realize integrated water, electricity, and aluminum, integrated coal, electricity, and aluminum, or integrated aluminum and electricity.

The standard declared that the electrolytic aluminum enterprises in the area where the production factors are lack of competitiveness should be moved to the competitive area under the guidance. To prevent blind investment from intensify the overcapacity, the new capacity must be controlled strictly.
