China exported 121,921 tonnes of aluminium cable, aluminium braid and other similar products(non aluminium steel core cable) in 2012, increased 5.4%. As the forth year of increase since 106,138 tonnes in 2008, it is better than the time before the financial crisis.
The main market inside the country is the in the construction of power grid aspect. But with the increase number of market players, national competition is becoming severe. Meanwhile, high-tech products like aluminium alloy conductor have not been popularized in the market. Most companies are lack of innovation ability and there is an overproduction problem in the industry. All of these factors are forcing companies heading to the international market.
However, international aluminium cable market is not as good as expect. An aluminium cable export company said that export in 2012 has increased, but the profit has slumped because of the high standard of foreign companies, the high price in China market and the fluctuation of aluminium price.
There is a possibility in aluminium cable export will increase. Because Chinese companies has an increasing expectation in international market, and the investment in aluminium cable technique has risen which brings Chinese product a trend to upgrade. Finally Chinese aluminium cable product will have a better competence. National competition will force this kind of company to go international.
