Japan, the main consumer of China’s non-ferrous metal was hit by massive earthquake and tsunami.
It’s known that Japan’s imports of non-ferrous metal were mainly used in manufacturing industry; whereas, the earthquake and tsunami struck the country’s second largest industry area. The automobile, electronic and non-ferrous industries have been impacted seriously.
Among them, China’s exports of electrolytic aluminum foil have been influenced directly as the majority manufacturers of aluminum electrolytic capacitors are in Fukushima which may suspend the operation due to the nuclear radiation.
It’s predicted that Japan’s demand for aluminum would decline in the short term. Meanwhile, according to the data, Japan is the net importer of aluminum which consumed 2.154 million tons of aluminum in 2010, accounted for 5.25% of the global.
Consequently, China’s non-ferrous metal suppliers have been suffering from sequence pressure caused by massive quake.
