Baosteel to supply 1 billion pop cans for Coca Cola

It is reported that Baosteel, the largest listed steelmaker in China is expected to supply 1.2 billion pop cans for Coca Cola accounting for 40% of Coca Cola total demand for the Chinese market.

This is the emerging market niche for Baosteel to generate profits aside from its traditional steel business.

The Shanghai based steelmaker turned to the pop can production for that it can produce lower cost steel made pop cans other than aluminum ones, saving money for the soft drink producers.

Back in 2001, Baosteel only provided 100 million pop cans for Coca Cola but the number surged to 1.2 billion this year as the two companies deepen their partnership in China.
