China and Australia group eyes Laos bauxite mine

Reuters quoted an Australian company helping fund a feasibility study for the project as saying that a decision on whether to proceed with the first bauxite mine in Laos is due in 2011.

Mr Frank Zhu executive director of Ord Resources said that the bauxite would likely be exported from the landlocked Southeast Asian nation to Chinese alumina refineries to make aluminium.
