HONG KONG Oct 25 (Reuters) - Aluminum Corp of China Ltd (2600.HK: Quote) (601600.SS: Quote), China's largest aluminium producer, on Monday posted a net loss in the third quarter as a supply glut and high costs squeezed its margins.
The company, also known as Chalco, made a net loss of 117.81 million yuan ($17.69 million) in July-September, lagging two analysts that had forecast breakeven and a 111 million yuan loss.
The net compared with 21.3 million yuan profit in the same quarter last year.
Shares of Chalco have risen more than 30 percent since July fuelled by the company's new strategy of diversifing into the production of other metals and raw materials such as coal, iron ore, rare earth and copper. ($1=6.658 Yuan)
