CBA bauxite project to complete in March

Brazilian CBA said, the Mirai bauxite project in Minas Gerais is to finish in March. The project is supposed to start up in the end of 2007. Carlos Augusto Parisi, manager of mining department said, “We did not finish the project last year. Now Brazilian and global demand for equipment and mining materials is rising strongly, we can not ensure enough supply of metal component and equipment for this project.” This project is operated in four phases. The first phase project is to come on stream this year. CBA’s current capacity is 475,000 tons per year. Once completion, other phases will put into operation. He also said, “The factory is to be fully completed between the end of Feburary and the beginning of March. But it will come on stream in the end of March.” CBA is controlled by Votorantim, with factories lie in aluminum industrial city in Sao Paulo state.
