Chinese alumina price rose by 10%, driven by demand and production

Hongkong, Dec 17 – Market source said on Monday, Chinese alumina price has risen by 10% since December, 30% since the end of October, driven by strong demand and smelters production outage. Chalco, the biggest alumina producer in China, is expected to raise alumina price by 8-10%, leading profit up. Chalco keeps alumina price at 3,800 yuan per ton since the end of November, when it raise price by 8.5%. Non-Chalco alumina producers, including weiqiao Aluminum and Xinfa Huayu Alumina reported alumina price of 4,300 yuan per ton, from 3,900 yuan per ton at the start of December.
