Chinese alumina prices remain at Yuan 3,400/mt ex plant: sources

Singapore -- Chinese spot domestic alumina prices continued to be holding steady around Yuan 3,400($453)/mt ex-plant for non-Chalco materials, unchanged from the past three weeks, sources said Wednesday. An analyst from Beijing Antaike heard offers steady at Yuan 3,400/mt. "The market is very slow moving and I have not heard any change this week," he said, adding that he did not hear any spot trade concluded either. An official from Chinese Minmetals agreed, adding: "The market has been very quiet with offers remaining unchanged at the Yuan 3,400/mt level." Both sources said they had not heard any indication for imports for Australian alumina. No offers or deals for Australian materials were reported done this week. Indications were last heard steady at $360-370/mt CIF. Platts assessed alumina import prices to China for Australian materials at $360-370/mt CIF for the week of September 17-21, unchanged from a week ago.
