Residents in Caledonia St. Ann staged a protest against the Noranda Bauxite Company this morning.

They say the company dug up a play field for mining and did not replace it.

They are also upset at what they say is the dust from the company’s operations.

According to residents, the dust has affected the water in the community’s catchment tank and their health.

Residents are reportedly paid a dust nuisance allowance of 5 thousand dollars by the company. The residents say it’s not enough.

Noranda's management team is  reportedly open to discussions with a delegation from the community in a bid to address  the problems.
