Alcan Extruded Products, a subsidiary of Canadian producer Alcan, announced the opening of a US$35 million aluminium extrusion plant in Slovakia. The new site will supply Eastern Europe's growing soft alloy extruded products market, it said.
The plant will operate two extrusion press lines and feed the local automotive, construction and transportation sectors.
Christel Bories, President and Chief Executive Officer, Alcan Engineered Products, said that "Eastern Europe demand for soft alloys is expected to grow by an average of five percent over the next 20 years."
