A unit of Canada's Alcan (AL.TO: Quote) plans to make 25,000 tons of soft alloy products within four years at its new $35 million Slovak plant, company officials said on Tuesday.

The Slovak factory of Alcan Extruded Products, part of the world's second-largest maker of primary aluminum, expects to reach an annual turnover of $67.72 million and create 200 jobs near the western Slovak town of Levice.

"Eastern Europe is a growing market, especially in soft alloys," President of Alcan Extruded Products, Reinhard Fleer, told journalists.

"We attempt to participate in this growth by following our customers here and providing them with the products they need to succeed."

Alcan said the Slovak plant would supply clients like car makers PSA Peugeot Citroen (PEUP.PA: Quote), Volkswagen (VOWG.DE: Quote) and Kia Motors (000270.KS: Quote), which all have assembly plants in Slovakia, and other customers in neighbouring Poland and Hungary.

The Slovak factory would also supply the construction and transportation industries in the region, the company said.
