W YORK (AP) -- Canadian aluminum producer Alcan Inc. on Wednesday said it plans to invest $27.5 million to expand its pharmaceutical packaging facility in Shelbyville, Ky.
Alcan said the expansion is meant to meet projected growth in the North American pharmaceutical packaging industry in coming years. The company expects to add up to 50 employees at the facility, which currently employs 150 people.
The company expects the expansion will be operational by February 2008.
Shares of Alcan rose 10 cents to $48.65 in afternoon trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
