Canadian aluminium producer Alcan Inc. said Thursday it signed a multiyear agreement with France's Valeo to supply aluminium sheet for use in automotive thermal systems, including air conditioning and engine cooling heat exchangers.
The aluminium will be used in Valeo's European plants and will come from Alcan's Neuf-Brisach rolling mill in France, Alcan said Thursday.
Valeo ranks among the top global players in the automotive heat exchanger segment.
"Including Alcan Specialty Sheet Neuf-Brisach (Europe) and Alcan Rolled Products Ravenswood (North America), Alcan is now the No. 1 worldwide supplier to Valeo for aluminium rolled products," said Michel Jacques, president and CEO of Alcan Engineered Products.
Alcan Specialty Sheet says it's a key player in the European rolling industry, and has leading positions in such products as beverage cans and closures, automotive, reflectors and cosmetics. It employs 2,400 people.
Alcan has operations in bauxite mining, alumina processing, primary metal smelting, power generation, aluminium fabrication, engineered solutions as well as flexible and specialty packaging.
