Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba)'s sponsorship support for University of Bahrain (UOB)'s 12th Careers Day - taking place from March 5 to 7, 2012 - provides tangible demonstration of the company's commitment to inspire and enable young Bahrainis to discover opportunities for career advancement within the company as well as in the aluminium industry.

UOB's Careers Day - held annually at the beginning of the year - has proved to be effective in allowing key professionals from major corporations and governmental bodies to meet and interact with UOB's students from diverse disciplines and share with them the various requirements for employment and skills needed to achieve success in their companies.

Alba has been a regular participant of UOB's Careers Day since it begun in 1999, and the company's stand has always attracted a large number of students eager to know about the company and the career opportunities that it offers. They are also able to learn about how they can send their CV's electronically through the company's website whenever a new vacancy is announced.

Commenting on the company's sponsorship support for UOB's 12th Careers Day, Alba's Chief Executive, Laurent Schmitt said:

"For the past 40 years since Alba's inception in 1971, we as a company have remained committed in playing our part in ensuring Bahrain's economic and social development. As the 4th largest single site aluminium smelter in the world, our Bahraini employees benefit from a world class work environment and are able to develop skills that match the very best in the world.

Our support for UOB's Careers Day is to enable young Bahraini students to gain an understanding of what it takes to work in a smelter that ranks amongst the world leaders, and how they can contribute in Alba's continuing success story."

Alba's current workforce stands at 2,700 out of which almost 87 per cent are Bahraini nationals. This track record in Bahrainisation is the result of the company's commitment to training and development as well as in encouraging Bahraini employees to reach and exceed their potential.
