Middle East's aluminium producers test their mettle

In the 1960s, the Bahraini government hit upon the idea of using its vast gas reserves to make aluminium.

Aluminium Bahrain was the first producer to open in the Middle East, and its success sparked interest from all around the region.

By 2020, the Middle East will have quadrupled production to around 12% of global output.

Questions are now being asked if there is enough demand for the aluminium being produced.
