He later met chairman of the Alba Union, Ali Bin Ali and other members of the union and listened to their concerns and suggestions. “It is, indeed, a proud moment for me to meet with members of the Alba team today, and to see how we would be working together as a team in making Alba one of the most competitive smelters in the world. I am thankful to the Alba chairman, Mahmood Hashim Al Kooheji and the Board of Directors for entrusting me with this responsibility, and I believe that with the combined brainpower of all of Alba’s employees, we will be able to overcome the challenges of today,” said Schmitt in his address. He was previously president of Organics Business at the Rhodia Group in France, and has been with the group in senior management positions since 2001.
