Trade Arabia reported that Aluminium Bahrain has won the prestigious International Federation of Training and Development Organizations Global Human Resource Development Award 2009 for its paper on 'The Smart Centre at Alba'. Alba will be the first organization in the Arab world to have won this prestigious award that honors breakthrough ideas in human resource and development. The Smart Centers at Alba were started in April 2004 as an effective way to strengthen motivation levels amongst employees by bringing the practice of strategy to the shop floor to realize employee potential, to stimulate creativity and create a sense of belonging, ownership and commitment. Alba’s paper was deemed excellent and was awarded the 'Knowledge Management Category Winner'. Mr Mohammed Mahmood COO of Alba said that “Even after 5 years, the Smart Centre has proved to be a huge success since motivation levels continue to be at a high level.
