Bahrain's three largest industrial companies have won three prestigious environmental awards as part of the GCC best environmental work award for the fifth consecutive year at a meeting of GCC environment ministers in Saudi Arabia.
Bahrain Petroleum Company won the Bahrain environmental personality. Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) took the prize as best industrial organisation that complies with environmental standards in Bahrain while Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) was honoured with the Bahrain environmental awareness award.
Winning such citations by three major industrial companies in Bahrain demonstrates the high levels achieved by industry in Bahrain in all fields, especially protection of the environment and compliance with principles of constant development, based on maintaining the balance in protection of the environment, community and economic profitability.
Such awards also provide evidence of the commitment of the Kingdom's wise leadership led by King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and Crown Prince Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa to support the industrial sector and their encouragement in environmental projects and programmes. Moreover, the accolades serve to prove the keen interest shown by these companies' executive managers and employees in protecting the environment and the enhancement of environmental awareness.
